Automatically Coded Oil Reserves - ACOR
Philipp HunzikerDescription
The ACOR (Automatically Coded Oil Reserves) dataset provides precise geocoded information on the location of oil and
gas fields. Specifically, the dataset records the shape, size and location of all known onshore oil and gas fields
in 1982, and is based on an atlas by Mayer (Mayer, Ferdinand. 1982. Petro-Atlas: Erdöl und Erdgas. Braunschweig: Westermann). To code these roughly 13,000 polygon features, we developed
automatic vectorization software leveraging recent advances in computer vision and machine learning.
